Romantic riverside sanctuaries and Island retreats Romantic Livingstone, Chobe and Delta

Striking a balance between edge-of-your-seat action and sheer relaxation is part art, part science, and one hundred percent our forte. Enter 8 day romantic Livingstone, Chobe and Delta: Adventure on the outside, sumptuous surrounds and spa treatments on the inside, and some of the best all-round birding and wildlife in between.

You’ll start at the edge of one of the world’s official natural wonders, Victoria Falls, where “moonbows” (rainbows by light of the full moon) glitter in its mists and 33,000 cubic feet of water per second hurtle over its mile-wide basalt ledge. Dramatic much?

And then it’s on to the world’s largest inland delta, dotted with intimate camps, picture-perfect scenery, and some of the most spectacular game viewing on the planet. (With an elephant-filled pitstop on the banks of the Chobe River.) The 8 day romantic Livingstone, Chobe and Delta safari is a wondrous watery affair.

Highlights

  • Experiencing the thunderous power of the world’s mightiest waterfall.
  • Explore the Zambian way of life at a local village.
  • Birdwatching, boat rides and booze-cruises on the Chobe and the Zambezi.
  • Waking up to Africa’s highest concentration of elephants right on your doorstep.
  • Exploring the waterways of the Okavango Delta by mokoro.

Break it down Itinerary overview

You’ll start where many great safari adventures tend to begin: Vic Falls. From your sprawling riverside suite at Royal Chundu Island lodge, you’ll have two full days and three incredibly comfy nights to explore every angle of the Falls. From a rainforest tour to unbeatable helicopter views, Victoria really doesn’t have a bad side. You’ll drink in the Zambezi’s dramatic sunsets, and nod off to the sound of snuffling hippos on its banks.

With the flash of a passport, you’re off to Botswana for two elephant-filled days at Chobe Chilwero. Its just a short drive to Chobe over the new Kazungukla bridge (where four countries meet). Here, game-viewing and gastronomy are the order of the day. If elephants are on your must-see list, very little beats this place in the dry season. You’ll watch endless breeding herds take riverside dust baths, before indulging in your own spa experience with a treatment menu as long as a proverbial elephant’s trunk.

Your tour of Botswana’s best culminates on a vast, game-rich island in the middle of the Okavango Delta at the award-winning Chief’s Camp. Considered to have some of the best game viewing on earth, there’s very little you won’t see in these parts. You’ll track rhino through the mopane, watch lion and wild dog take-downs on the floodplains, and keep a lookout for leopard kills in the forks of trees. To say nothing of all the signature pampering you’ll soak up back in camp. We think it’s heaven. On your final day we fly you to Maun, where the tour comes to an end.
