The wild side of Africa! Honeymoon to Linyanti and the Okavango Delta

Welcome to our wild adventure in Botswana and Vic Falls! On this trip you’ll have serious bragging rights because, let’s face it, who else do you know has honeymooned like this…

Our adventure takes us through three incredible destinations starting in the enchanting Linyanti area in Chobe National Park, where you can witness the large elephant herds the area is famous for. Next, we journey to the eastern side of the Okavango Delta to experience the iconic water-based safari activities and romantic sunsets. And finally, we end our journey in Zambia with a visit to the magnificent Victoria Falls. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience where the sheer power and beauty of the falls will take your breath away. Fully immerse yourself in the wilderness and pretend you’re a proper explorer (just remember to leave the pith helmet at home).

We’ve chosen three dreamy, romantic, and remote lodges that are perfect for your honeymoon. Just imagine sitting by the campfire, watching the stars twinkle above you. It’s enough to make even the most cynical heart melt.

Let’s start with the Linyanti Bush Camp in Chobe – a real gem. It’s small, remote, and wild. As for the camp itself, it’s got an authentic, stylish and charming vibe to it. Think lanterns, campfires, and sunsets that will make you weak in the knees.

Now, let’s move on to the Khwai Bush Camp in the Okavango Delta. This place is a bit of a show-off if you ask me, located in the Khwai Community Reserve, adjacent to the Moremi Game reserve. The camp itself is small and intimate, which is perfect for a honeymoon with only 6 tents – you won’t have to share the reserve with anyone else (except maybe a few monkeys). And the best part? The camp has a real “design” vibe to it, so you’ll feel like you’re roughing it in the wild, but with all the luxuries of a five-star hotel.

And last, we have the Thorntree Lodge on the Zambezi. This place is the real deal. It’s got all the bells and whistles of a honeymoon hotspot – a pool, a spa, and a view that will make you forget all your worries. And the lodge’s location is nothing short of spectacular. It’s right on the Zambezi River, so you’ll have a front-row seat to some of the most breathtaking sunsets you’ll ever see.

Three lodges that are perfect for a romantic getaway. Just remember to pack your sense of adventure (and maybe some champagne) – you’re in for a wild ride!

Cool & Unusual

A safari in Botswana is a transformative experience that will leave you feeling like a true explorer (minus the pith helmet, of course). Witnessing the incredible wildlife in its natural habitat and being completely immersed in the remoteness of the African wilderness is like hitting the reset button on your soul.

Break it down Itinerary overview

Our journey departs from Kasane, the gateway to Botswana's northern safari circuit. After a short scenic charter flight (bush taxi). Arrive at Linyanti Bush Camp and settle into the luxury tents. In the afternoon, we'll go on a game drive to explore the area and spot some of the wildlife the region is known for.

Wake up to the sound of birds chirping and the smell of fresh coffee. Today, we'll head out on a walking safari (if your batteries are fully charged) and experience the African wilderness up close and personal. And in the late afternoon - after high tea, we'll have the opportunity to take a boat safari, where it's possible to get very close to elephants drinking on the water's edge.

Enjoy another game drive in the morning, followed by some relaxation time at the camp. In the afternoon, we'll take a thrilling night drive and discover the natural nocturnal world of Botswana. The food on a safari typically includes hearty breakfasts, lighter lunches, and more elaborate dinners with multiple courses and a variety of local and international dishes. It will also have outdoor dining experiences and sundowner drinks. Lots and lots of drinks!

Leave Linyanti Bush Camp and head to Khwai Tented Camp; settle in and enjoy a game drive in the afternoon. And as the night draws to a close, snuggle up together under the covers of your cosy tent, listening to the sounds of the bush around you. Moments like these make safari the perfect setting for a romantic getaway.

Today, we'll go on a mokoro excursion, a traditional dug-out canoe, and explore the smaller things on the waterways of the Okavango Delta. Later in the day, you head out on a game drive, spotting lions, elephants, and giraffes along the way. When you return to camp, a romantic bush dinner awaits, complete with candles and a delicious meal under the starry African sky.

We'll embark on a guided walking safari and immerse ourselves in the African wilderness. We'll also have the opportunity to go on a night drive and experience the Okavango Delta at night.

We'll leave Khwai Tented Camp and Botswana to head to Thorntree on the Zambezi River in Zambia. Here, we'll have the opportunity to relax on the banks of the river. The lodge is so beautiful you may not want to leave. Still, Vic Falls has so many activities on offer. We recommend a sunset boat cruise along the Zambezi River on the first day. Or simply enjoy the sunset over the river from the very romantic jetty. From the thundering sound of the water to the mesmerising rainbows that dance in the mist, this is a sensory overload that cannot be missed. Tuck yourselves into the luxurious Thorntree for the night and simply relax in the tranquil atmosphere of the lodge.

We'll take a guided tour of Victoria Falls and witness the breathtaking natural wonder up close. Today can be as action-packed or relaxed as you like. There are a host of activities to choose from, river rafting down some crazy rapids below the Falls or a more chilled canoe trip above the Falls. Swim in Devil's pool, on the precipice of the Falls? Take a scenic flight of angels or a walk over the bridge to the Zim side. The choices are endless, and without being too salsey, we know you'll wish you'd extended.

Our adventure ends at Livingstone Airport. We'll transfer you to the airport for your journey home with memories that will last a lifetime - or until your spouse reminds you!
