Setting the Scene
Occupying the best patch in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Entamanu sits on the crater edge, overlooking the caldera and the plains that roll out on the other side. In 2024, Entamanu switched its tented rooms to wooden cottages, going all in for cosy vibes – very welcome with the crater rim’s often chilly conditions. Woolly rugs, soft throws and gas heating keep the rooms feeling snug. Private terraces have views across the crater that you can admire over a steaming hot coffee or a lemony G&T.
Nesting Arrangements
The camp has seven one-bedroom cottages and three with two en-suite bedrooms for families or groups of pals. The main lounge is a place for chatting with other guests by the fire, comparing notes on previous stops and what’s next on the itinerary.
The Secret Sauce
Obviously you’re not going to want to spend all your time snuggled up in camp (even if you kind of do). From Entamanu, there are game drives into the crater, the entrance to which is only half an hour’s drive away – essential for beating the crowds and reaching the gates before the queue assembles.
After your morning drive, the team can organise a private picnic lunch above the crater. Or you could take a walk through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and find out just how poor your long-distance eyesight is compared to your Maasai guide’s.
