Setting the Scene
“Echo is the closest you can come to leaving Earth without boarding a spacecraft”. The cluster of oval metal-grey fibreglass pods look like they could’ve dropped onto this glittering glacier from a galaxy far, far away. Echo Camp is anything but out of place in this otherworldly landscape.
Wildly Stylish Sleeping Arrangements
The towering, jagged peaks of Queen Maud Land surround the camp, creating the unreal scene you’ll wake up to every morning. The six heated sleeping pods have floor-to-ceiling windows in front of the beds so every waking moment can be spent taking it all in (including while showering, thanks to a glass-panelled wall – privately angled, before you start panicking).
Food Philosophy
All things delicious are served in the dining pod. Gather for a pre-dinner glass of wine in the lounge area, reliving the frankly surreal sights of the day with your fellow guests. Dive into delightfully scrumptious meals that have absolutely no place being served up in the middle of Antarctica.
Also
Spend your days at Echo Camp walking or cycling across the glacier, learning to ice climb (or perfecting your technique – we shouldn’t be so presumptuous), or taking a two-hour hike across vast ice fields to explore the deep, blue ice tunnels. You could also fly to the Atka Bay emperor penguin colony, where you’ll see chicks take their first wobbly steps off mum or dad’s feet. Once you return to camp, you can unwind in your room, curling up on the faux-fur-draped couch with a hot drink. Or take an ice bath promptly followed by a reviving sauna session.
