Khwai Tented Camp Where the Wild Things Are

You know that feeling when camping in the middle of nowhere and suddenly you hear rustling in the bushes? Well, at Khwai Tented Camp, that rustling could be anything from an elephant to a lion to a wild dog. Yes, you read that right, all these animals hang out on the doorstep of this down-to-earth and environmentally friendly camp, making it the perfect place for a thrilling safari adventure.

Location

This new luxury tented camp is in the Khwai Community Concession, a private reserve nestled amongst a forest of sycamore and leadwood trees on the banks of the Khwai River, with jaw-dropping views of the famous Moremi Game Reserve. This river is the first permanent water source for animals migrating between the Chobe and Linyanti in the north and the Okavango. Hence, it’s like a wildlife magnet all year round.

Camp overview:

All of the activities are led by highly qualified and passionate guides who will share their love and knowledge of the bush with you. And suppose that’s not enough to get you excited. In that case, the warm hospitality and naturally exuberant welcome from the staff will have you feeling like royalty in no time.

Rooms:

If you’re looking for a comfortable and stylish place to lay your head, look no further than Khwai Tented Camp. The six tented rooms are lightly furnished with a cosy bed and a small seating area. The highlight of the rooms is the raised wooden deck that overlooks the surrounding floodplain or lagoon. You can watch the wildlife from this vantage point as they come and go from the nearby river. It’s like having your own front-row seat to the greatest show on earth. And after a day spent exploring the African bush, there’s nothing better than lounging on your deck with a cold drink in hand and watching the sunset over the wilderness.

Activity:

The camp offers an array of activities beyond the standard morning and afternoon drives, including night drives, guided walks, and even seasonal mokoro cruises. But the most unique experience is visiting the nearby Khwai village, which offers guests a cultural immersion into the local way of life. Visits to the iconic Moremi Game Reserve are not only possible but encouraged. Driving through the famous gates is an experience in itself. Different from the Khwai Community Reserve, Moremi is not a private experience but no less incredible.

So if you’re ready to get up close and personal with wild animals, and have a safari experience like no other, then Khwai Tented Camp is the place for you. Just remember to pack your sense of adventure!
