What to budget Number crunching

There’s quite a bit that goes into working out what to budget for a safari. Sure, they’re not cheap, but a safari certainly doesn’t have to break the bank. And every dollar you spend does more for Africa’s wildlife and its people than you could possibly imagine.

The cost of a safari

“Luxury safari”. Sounds pricey. Doesn’t have to be.  It all depends on what luxury means to you. It might be having a private game viewing vehicle all to yourself. Or a steady stream of fine wines and five-star dining. Or sleeping under nothing but a mosquito net. Or just turning your phone off for two blissful weeks.

That’s why we’ll never ask, “what’s your budget?” It’s not about how much money you spend. It’s about what kind of experience you’re after. We specialise in understanding your idea of luxury – and creating an unforgettable African safari that ticks all your boxes – including the budget one. That’s what makes us different.

If you’ve got $3,500 a night to spend, we’ve got some incredible camps that’ll fit the bill. But if you’re not here for the frills and you’re all about the authentic safari thrills, we’ve got some absolute gems we’re dying to show you. And if you fancy a bit of both, we’ll do what we can to make that happen.

What’s included in the price

Like all the best safaris, ours are all-inclusive. We’ll give you a quote up front that includes pretty much everything. That way, you don’t have to think about anything except having a great time. And your wallet gets a bit of holiday too.

Unless we tell you otherwise, all of these things are typically included in the price of your safari:

  • Commercial flights (if you’re booking them through us)
  • Luxury accommodation
  • All meals and local wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks while on safari
  • All game drives and standard lodge activities
  • All airport transfers and charter flights between lodges
  • Same-day laundry service while on safari
  • Conservation fees for game parks and reserves

Bang for those bucks

There’s a heck of a lot your safari dollars do. Yes, you’re paying for the privilege of being one of just twenty people in a 50,000-acre private game reserve (who wants overcrowded experiences these days anyway) and a highly personalised, solar-powered, off-grid experience where every last basil leaf needs to be brought in, and every garbage bag taken out again. But the positive impact your safari has on Africa, its wildlife and its communities is huge.

Africa’s reserves might be big enough to support many more visitors at a time but charging fewer people a little more money means everyone wins. It puts less pressure on the environment, while still supporting the reserve, protecting its animals and generating revenue for the community. And it gives you an exclusive, highly personalised audience with some of Africa’s biggest and very best wildlife.

Thanks to people like you, Africa thrives. Just by being here, you uplift local communities, providing jobs and valuable skills. And every night you sleep under an African sky, a portion of what you pay goes towards conserving those elephants having a back-scratch against your tent and the lions roaring in the distance.

Without your support, there would be fewer areas of pristine wilderness left in the world. So, from the bottom of our African hearts, thank you.
