If you only had one night to spend in Botswana, it would be best spent here. Vumbura Plains offers up every Okavango experience you could ever dream of on one enormous silver platter. Heaving with animal and birdlife, the community-run Kwedi concession has it all: birds, big cats, buffalo, wild dogs, bush dinners, 4x4s, heli flips, mokoro excursions – even hot air balloons. Heck, just walking between your room and the main area is a mini safari in itself. It’s quite simply paradise. (And the vast, linen-draped indoor showers, planted slap-bang in the middle of each room, are as good as, if not better than, any outdoor shower you’ll ever try.)
The Vumbura Plains Experience
Vumbura Plains is north of Moremi in an area that consists of floodplains and tiny little islands. For game viewing you are spoilt for choice with a varied list of activities. It’s known for its density and variety of game and because of this, sometimes there is a restriction on walking.
