Leeu Estates

If Franschhoek is the gourmet capital of South Africa, then Leeu Estates is its de facto epicentre. This working wine farm takes ‘gourmet hideaway’ to the next level, with its no-expenses-spared 19th century Manor House the perfect base for wining and dining in the Cape’s “French corner”. Hell, the breakfast alone is worthy of its own novel. Think single malt-laced oats, foraged mushrooms and honeycomb so fresh the bees probably haven’t even missed it yet. Stuff we love

In the heart of Franschhoek

  • Strolling in the sculpture-filled gardens, before settling in to a tasting of the estate’s finest wines in the Wine Studio.
  • Wandering along Franschhoek’s pretty high street with its delightfully odd mix of tricolore-topped flag poles and Cape Dutch architecture.
  • Picking out a piece of art from the Everard Read gallery. It will be waiting for you when you get home.
