Just a short hop from Maun lies Gomoti Plains. Nestled in the tress on the water’s edge, Gomoti Plains is entirely off the grid and as close to nature as you can get – if you ignore the emergency Wi-Fi connection under the marula tree. Named after the water fig which lines its waterways, it’s a camp for all seasons. Its prime position in the eastern fingertips of the delta means you’re treated to a magical combination of land and water experiences. From game viewing to birdwatching and the must-do mokoro excursions, this charming hideaway has it all. Like many other solar-powered camps, you’re unlikely to find electricity-hungry luxuries like air-conditioning and hairdryers in your room. But when you’re lounging in the pool with a cocktail in your hand, we doubt you’ll even miss them.
The Gomoti Plains experience
Gomoti Plains sits on the edge of the Gomoti river system and floodplain in the middle of the Okavango Delta. Its 10 classic safari tents are hidden under a canopy of Acacia trees. This is some of the best game viewing in the delta, both in numbers and diversity.
