Etched into the inland desert valleys of the Torra Conservancy sits Damaraland Camp – remote, unique and impressive. It’s hard to imagine anything thriving in this barren, lunar-like landscape. And still, from desert-adapted lions, elephants and black rhino, to the local communities that call the Torra conservancy home, thrive they do. Beaming from ear-to-ear, locals greet you like long-lost friends. Every dinner is a star-studded event (the twinkling kind – no need to pack a tux) and every breakfast spread is a feast fit for gods.
The Damaraland Camp Experience
Damaraland Camp is in a secluded location in the Huab Valley where the river flows for only a brief time each year. While the focus of activity is on searching for unique desert-adapted wildlife, most notably elephants and black rhino, it’s also worth doing an excursion to the ancient rock art at Twyfelfontein.
