Frequently asked Questions
Definitely! Many of the lodges we work with are family-friendly, offering private guides, flexible schedules, and tailored activities for kids. Children love climbing the dunes and spotting wildlife like gemsbok, zebra, and ostriches. Evenings are perfect for stargazing as a family, with guides who bring the desert night sky to life. We’ll curate your itinerary to balance adventure and relaxation so everyone is happy.
This is an incredible fly-in safari! A light aircraft gets you there in under two hours, and the aerial views of the Namib Desert are otherworldly.
It’s a must-do if you’re able! Dune 45 is a crowd favourite. At about 170 metres, it’s a manageable sunrise climb with epic views. Big Daddy is more of a challenge. At roughly 325 metres, it’s one of the tallest dunes in the world. The climb is demanding, but the reward is tumbling down its slopes into Dead Vlei below — a namibian rollercoaster ride!
Think luxury redefined! Remote desert hideaways where world-class design meets otherworldly landscapes. These lodges feel like they’ve been dropped into the middle of nowhere, offering sweeping dune views, private plunge pools, rooftop stargazing decks, and interiors that rival the scenery outside. Expect immersive spaces that blur the line between inside and out.
In Sossusvlei, you can expect to see desert-adapted wildlife like striking oryx, springbok, and ostriches. Be on the lookout for nocturnal creatures such as bat-eared foxes, black-backed jackals, and sometimes spotted hyenas or aardwolves.
Sossusvlei’s beauty comes with a little drama. Days are typically hot and dry, with temperatures climbing into the mid-30s°C (95°F) in summer, while mornings and evenings can be surprisingly cool year-round, especially in winter, when pre-dawn dune climbs call for a cosy layer or two. The desert light is incredible, but the sun is intense, so we’ll make sure you’re fully prepped with packing tips and the right gear.
Sossusvlei is breathtaking year-round, but for ideal conditions, the cooler, winter months between May and September are perfect. Crisp mornings, warm days, and clear desert skies.
Yes! They are unforgettable. Sunrise flights drift above the world’s highest dunes, watching as the desert shifts through fiery shades of gold and crimson. It’s one of Sossusvlei’s most iconic experiences and usually ends with a champagne breakfast on the desert floor. We’ll secure your spot and make sure it’s timed perfectly during your stay.
